I’d like to draw a distinction between meditating and inner listening. Most meditation practises aim to still the mind.

If you belief everything your mind tells you, you will suffer greatly. The mind is a wonderful tool for doing many tasks.
Chanting expands the strength of your auric field, the space around your body. You may not yet be consciously aware of your field but it's there.
