We don’t know our boundaries until we meet them
People have all kinds of ideas about what they will and won’t do but often those personal rules get broken? It’s hard to hold ourselves to high ideals that come from our thinking rather than from our life experience.
.
Think of overeating, excessive alcohol or over-doing, when we gain enough personal experience of how awful we feel afterward, it’s easier to make better choices the next time around. For most of us, we need quite a lot of negative feedback to finally draw a line in the sand and create a boundary that we can live by.
.
That’s okay because by the time we do draw our personal line and create a healthy boundary for ourselves, we will own it and keeping it will become much less effortful.
