What's Happening Now?

"What's Happening Now?" is an invitation in a BCET session to share what you are aware of in that moment. What do you feel in your body? Where is the greatest sensation? What emotions come up with that sensation?

I learned the phrase as part of my training as Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist, PRYT. PRYT is a form of emotional therapy that uses supported yoga postures to access the emotional material. I love the basic dialogue technique from PRTY. It invites sharing without casual chatting. It invites a dialogue that emerges out of the present moment through the body.

Over time, I have adapted my therapy work to incorporate other techniques I have learned. I've moved away from using yoga poses and now most of my work is done sitting comfortably across for one another on chairs or even sofas. Sometimes I use energy work, on a table, to provide additional support but regardless of our physical pose, we are engaging in a guided and supported exploration of the inner landscape.

In your own home, take a few moments to be still. When your breath has settled and you feel you have arrived, ask yourself, "What's Happening Now?" It's a beautiful invitation to truly notice.
