Most everything that happens to you is based on your internal reaction to the world around you.
How do we hold space for ourselves when we’re focused on our outer world most of the time?
It can be challenging to carve out time but to thrive we need to make space to tend and care for our inner world. This self-care requires space to sense and listen because the inner world doesn't talk to us clearly or overtly. The inner world speaks in feelings, aches, images, sentiments, and cryptic notions. It requires time to slow down, unwind and understand what's happening, and then to attend with presence to what's needed.
Most people need to spend some time alone in order to access this part of themselves. Different people have different ways of spending time alone. You could lie in a bath, take a quiet walk, or sit in meditation. There isn't a right way, but there is a need for you to find your way. Without making a conscious effort, you’ll swirl through life, and hours and days can pass and before you know it, you haven't really been taking care of yourself in the way that's needed.
Without time to sense your inner world, you’ll perceive that things are happening to you without realizing that most everything that happens is based on your internal reaction to the world around you. I wonder, what inner listening is part of your routine? How are you holding space for yourself and the subtle workings of your inner world?
