Trauma-based component at the root of most chronic diseases

Trauma that we experienced in childhood or at any point in life can continue to consume part of our vital life energy today. Post trauma, some energy remains in the past and isn’t available to help us function in the present. Think of the traumatized part of yourself as being cut off from the rest of you, which was necessary at some point for your survival. The amount of energy that is stuck depends on the severity of the trauma you’ve suffered.

Compartmentalizing is a key survival mechanism post trauma. It prevents your nervous system from being overloaded. However, in order to enjoy good health, you need to reintegrate the cut off parts of yourself so that your energy can circulate freely in your body/mind.

Trauma based dis-integration is implicated in all manner of ill health. As a homeopath, I’ve never met a chronic disease that didn’t have a component of trauma at its roots. The fascinating and somewhat dangerous reality of modern medicine is that people can go through treatment, never uncovering their embodied trauma.

When you learn how to feel contraction and dis-integration through the body, it illuminates the matrix on which your chronic disease rests. The very ways you coped become like posts that your symptoms stand on.

We’re all doing our best. Our bodies are infinitely intelligent and will cope in the least destructive way possible. If you find yourself stuck with chronic persistent symptoms, consider exploring a body-based somatic therapy which can help you uncover what you are holding in your tissues.

There’s a fear that digging will create re-traumatization and more struggle. I suppose there’s a risk whenever you seek change, but in my experience it’s possible to release body-based trauma without being retraumatized. I’ve personally found the digging and releasing to be incredibly freeing.
