For most people who suffer with chronic anxiety, past emotional triggers play a large part in the condition.  An emotional trigger refers to a situation when a present condition stirs up an unresolved pain from the past. Then, people react to the current situation with a disproportionately large degree of emotion. These triggers happen all the time but many people are not aware of it in the moment.
